The destroyer of the system

The winner of the Alfred Bauer Prize * won the favor of our editorial staff during the Berlinale. In the story, nine-year-old Benny runs away from the shelters every time, to which she constantly ends up through the deprivation of her mother's custody rights. For Benny, the world is divided into the people she loves and the people she hates. However, hatred becomes her curse, because the girl from time to time experiences bouts of uncontrollable anger, which will become a catalyst for the sympathy of the viewer and the driving force for the plot. The actress Elena Tsengel, who plays the main role, is remembered most of all in Nora Fingscheit's film. We must admit that when we met her by chance in Berlin, we were struck by her politeness, which does not correlate at all with the character of Benny. This is the real skill of transformation, which is not taught in film schools.

* Awarded at the Berlinale for films that open up new paths in cinematography

Julia Blue

An American of Ukrainian origin, Roxy Toporovich, once met a girl with bright hair color on the subway. This meeting created the idea of a film about Ukraine, love and military operations in the east. It was with this story that they started talking about cinema in 2016. The budget of almost a quarter of a million hryvnias at that time increased, but the story remained unchanged: student photojournalist Yulia meets a soldier, but has certain doubts about her own independence when the feeling of love has cooled. This is still a melodrama at the junction of war and pacifism, but it is interesting at least from the perspective of a person from abroad on the current events in Ukraine. Moreover, this film will be further promoted by distributors in the world, and the premiere at the Kiev Film Festival underlines its significance and importance for Ukrainian viewers.

Vita and Virginia

Stephen Daldry spoke about Virginia Woolf on the screen for the last time. It was a good movie "The Clock" with Nicole Kidman, although the audience's attention was focused more on her nose than on the performance. Now, Chane Button has joined the writer's biography, which is remembered for its sarcastic and at the same time sincere "Burning, burning, burning." The new film is about the romance between Woolf and Vita Sackville-West, an aristocratic writer who was no less famous in The Lighthouse. And the British sophistication that the trailer demonstrates perfectly matches Button's melodramatic sensibility. 1xbet 프로모션코드
